Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar. La ilaha illAllah Allahu Akbar. Allahu Akbar Walillahilhamd.

The Sacrifice of Eid Adha

The sacrifice of animal of Eidul Adha goes back to Ibrahim 'alaihi salam. Why is that important for us? It's important because that sacrifice was the start of a legacy.

When they (Ibrahim and Ismail) fulfill that final test, Allah told Ibrahim 'alaihi salam that he is going to be made leader over humanity. And when he was made leader over humanity, he asked for one thing and one thing only, through him and the son that he just passed the most difficult test with, "Ya Allah just give us at least one messenger that will fulfill the legacy of prophethood to the utmost"

[Surat Al-Baqarah (2) ayat 129]

Rabbana wab'ats fihim rasulam minhu yatlu 'alaihim ayatik wa yu'allimuhumul kitab walhikmah yuzakkihim. They asked together, "Appoint a messenger among our future lineage who will recite the book, recite the ayat, teach the wisdom and ckeanse the people." And the fulfillment of that du'a is the coming of the Prophet shallallahu 'alaihi wasalam. And the Prophet shallallahu 'alaihi wasalam, when he completes his entire mission, perform the hajj and sacrifices the animal. He fulfill the ritual that was started by Ibrahim 'alaihi salam.

What we are celebrating is actually Allah answering the prayer of Ibrahim 'alaihi salam, that prayer that he made just by himself that he wants good for his children and that good will come through a final messenger. And that final messenger came, and through 23 almost impossible years, was able to fulfill one of the most incredible mission ever ever given in humanity. And as a result, you and I get to say shahadah today. That's actually what we're celebrating.

You know, those people that have gone to Hajj, that are fulfilling the ritual of Ibrahim 'alaihi salam and through Ibrahim 'alaihi salam, they're fulfilling the ultimate sunnah of the Prophet shallallahu 'alaihi wasalam -- all of that us actually the completion of Allah's favored on all of humanity.

You know, Prophets used to come to particular nation, but now Allah decides that He is going to sent a prophet for all humanity. And this is actually the common thing between Ibrahim 'alaihi salam and our Messenger shallallahu 'alaihi wasalam.

Ibrahim used to travel from place to place, and when he prayed, he prayed for all people. He even argued on behalf of the nation of Luth who he is not from, right? He was concern for all humanity. And our Messenger concern for all humanity.

This Eid is a reminder that the Ummah of Muhammad shallallahu 'alaihi wasalam and the Millah of Ibrahim 'alaihi salam -- which is what we are, the legacy and the religion of our father, Ibrahim 'alaihi salam -- by definition, we're supposed to be concern with good for all human beings. That is what we're celebrating. It is actually not about ourselves, it is about the rest of humanity. [1]

Allahua'lam.
